On Super Bowl Sunday, February 4, 2007,  67 happy sewers braved the bitter, sub-zero cold, to celebrate Haberman Fabrics' 10th Annual Football Widows' Sewing Retreat, a benefit for HAVEN. They spent the afternoon learning, sewing and thoroughly enjoying each other's companionship. Over $1,700.00 was raised for the important works of HAVEN with admission donations and Haberman Fabrics' contribution of a portion of the day's sales.

Our GAME PLAN for the day included the all day PROBLEM SOLVING CLINIC, where talented staff shared their expertise and assisted customers in conquering their sewing challenges and projects. There were three great demonstrations, too. These inspiring demo lessons included: Lucky Weddigen's fun and fashionable "Just for Kicks" Slippers; Susan White's unique ribbon and trim decorated "Tie One On" Belts; and Barbara Scraggs' one-of-a-kind "Carry On" Designer Purses, made with decorative handles, straps, snap closures, feet and more. A wonderful time of sewing and camaraderie was had by all!

HAVEN, the non-profit beneficiary of this event, is a nationally recognized leader in Oakland County and surrounding communities providing treatment, counseling, shelter, legal advocacy, and pro-active prevention programs focused exclusively on domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse.
