Fox-2 Problem Solvers:

Haberman Fabrics & Universal Sewing Center
To The Rescue

FOX-2 reporter Bill Gallagher interviewing
Barbara Skimin of Universal Sewing Center and Lois Miller.

On March 10, 2005, Haberman Fabrics and Universal Sewing Center (located inside Haberman Fabrics) answered the request of the FOX-2 News Problem Solvers to come to the aid of Lois Miller, a very talented metro-Detroit area woman.

Lois contacted FOX-2 Problem Solvers after she and her family fell on financial hard times. With her husband laid off, Lois sought to use her considerable sewing skills to provide income for her family, making and marketing clever, unique dolls. But when her sewing machine broke down, she called for help! FOX-2 reporter Bill Gallagher sought assistance from Toby Haberman of Haberman Fabrics, who contacted Ron Abraham, owner of Universal Sewing Center. Ron very generously donated a Janome 3018 computerized sewing machine and a Janome 204D serger to enable Lois to help herself and her family. Like all of Universal's customers, Lois received free lessons on both machines. Needless to say, everyone was elated with this happy ending!
