“MAKE IT WORK”
Metro Detroit Fashion Design Challenge
RESULTS

KARA JANX,
Bravo Project Runway Finalist

Our hearts were beating madly. It was that exciting. We know that only 250 of you could attend this amazing event at Haberman Fabrics. But we want to give you all a chance to see the results.

The designers' Project Runway-style "challenge" was to design and construct a garment for their friend, a stylish, upscale TV reporter, to wear while covering Detroit's "Fash Bash" Detroit Institute of Arts benefit. Saks Fifth Avenue is presenting a Tahari fashion show as part of that gala evening on August 26. Alas, the friend's taste exceeds her budget. Each designer received a gift certificate for just $100 to spend at Haberman Fabrics for all the fabrics and trims for the dress. The designers had two weeks to complete the challenge.

We are so proud of our ten exceptionally talented designer finalists. Our excellent judges truly had their work cut out for them. Huge thanks to them: designer Kara Janx, Project Runway Season-2 finalist, Susan Howes, HOUR DETROIT Magazine Fashion Editor, and Ken Dewey, Director of the 5th Avenue Club, exclusive shopping service of Saks Fifth Avenue. Here are photos of the finalists and their models. Can you guess who was in and who was out? Scroll down to see the results. Or as Tim Gunn, mentor extraordinaire, would say, "Carry on"…
