Please note the skill level when selecting a class:

- BEGINNER: These classes are suited for the beginner sewer, one who has little or no experience.

- ADVANCED BEGINNER - INTERMEDIATE: These classes are suited for the advanced beginner to intermediate sewers. Students should be able to use a sewing machine and follow printed directions.

INTERMEDIATE - ADVANCED: These classes are suited for the intermediate to advanced sewers. Students should understand basic garment and construction techniques and be very comfortable using a sewing machine on their own.

ADVANCED: These classes are suited for long-time sewers. Students should be very comfortable with using sewing machines, reading and following printed directions, and have advanced knowledge on garment and construction techniques.


211 - BRIDAL VEIL WORKSHOP
In this hands-on workshop you'll create a sample veil, while learning basic layout, cutting and sewing techniques, as well as how to embellish with a beautiful lace or ribbon edge, so you can make your own fabulous bridal veil at home. The retail costs of these veils in bridal specialty shops can run from $200 to $2,000, but you can make one yourself for a fraction of the cost!

217 - BASIC CAMP SHIRT
Advance your sewing skills as you create a classic camp shirt perfect for warm weather using McCalls #2094. You will learn how to choose appropriate fabric, learn how to apply sleeves, a notched collar, and buttonholes along with pressing and finishing techniques. Prior sewing experience is mandatory.

230 - ZIPPERS WORKSHOP
The focus of this class will be on basic installation of three different type of zippers in both new or replacement in existing garment. You will learn the correct technique to put in a regular dress zipper, an invisible zipper and a separating zipper.

332 - RENAISSANCE CORSETS
Draft and make your own strapless, boned-tabbed, back lacing corset. The perfect underpinning to give you the proper cone shaped silhouette in your Tudor or Elizabethan (or Renaissance Festival) attire. Students will learn how to properly fit corsets for this time period, as well as how to use grommets, boning and bindings.

340 - CLOTHING ALTERATIONS
Save time and aggravation by learning alterations for hems, waists, and sleeves in men's and women's garments. This is not a fitting class. This class will be a comprehensive study of: Pant hems - cuffed and plain, by hand and machine; Skirt hems - with and without a vent; Waist adjustment - smaller and larger. We will also cover alterations in blazer-type jacket covering sleeves, body width adjustment, etc. Come to the first class with any skirt, pant and jacket that needs shortening, mens's or women's, any type.

Using Butterick pattern # 5423, Learn to discover the artist in yourself! You will learn the art of "couching", how to combine colors, textures and a variety of embellishments - And you'll find that you will have fun doing it at the same time!

352 - NOUVEAU JACKET 2010
In this class you will create your "go to" jacket using the versatile Kwik Sew #3460 pattern. Denim. Linen. Cashmere. Even light ot medium weight home-dec fabrics are perfect for this jacket. Do you have an embroidery machine? This jacket pattern lends itself to adding a beautiful embroidered back panel. The design options are endless. You will learn Kenneth King's embellishment techniques with bias piping along with Lynn McCabe's techniques on how to add a secured pocket to the jacket's lining. In the first class you will prepare your pattern and begin to make a muslin for a custom fit. Fashion fabric will not be required until the second class.

218 - LITTLE BLACK DRESS
Every woman's wardrobe should have a "little black dress" that she can wear for all occasions. Create your own using Vogue #8494 or Butterick #4443, make it long or make it short, add a lot of fancy trim or just a touch of something nice, or just keep it simple and elegant...It doesn't even have to be black. Learn about the different type of ebellishments available to help you make a personal statement with your dress.
