211 - BRIDAL VEIL WORKSHOP
In this hands-on workshop you'll create a sample veil, while learning basic layout, cutting and sewing techniques, as well as how to embellish with a beautiful lace or ribbon edge, so you can make your own fabulous bridal veil at home. The retail costs of these veils in bridal specialty shops can run from $200 to $2,000, but you can make one yourself for a fraction of the cost!

230 - ZIPPERS WORKSHOP
The focus of this class will be on basic installation of three different type of zippers in both new or replacement in existing garment. You will learn the correct technique to put in a regular dress zipper, an invisible zipper and a separating zipper.

238 - CLOTHING ALTERATIONS I - HEM & WAIST
Save time and aggravation by learning alterations for hems and waists. This is not a fitting class. This class will be a comprehensive study of: Pant Hems: cuffed and plain, by hand and machine. Skirt Hems: with and without a vent, formal and casual. Waist Adjustment: from jeans to lined garments, made smaller and larger. Come to the first class with two skirts or pants that need shortening, men's or women's, any type.

Advance your basic sewing skills as you create a comfortable knit top, using Vogue # 8536. You will learn to read a pattern, select appropriate fabric, and sewing, pressing and finishing techniques. Various ways to create a unique top will also be discussed.

316 - BASIC PATTERN DRAFTING - BODICE/SKIRT/SLEEVE
Learn to draft a basic sloper that fits your body perfectly. In a step-by-step process students will draft a bodice, skirt and sleeve pattern based on body measurements, then prove the pattern in muslin. Students will fit and correct the muslin to achieve a perfect fit for the final pattern sloper. Slopers can then be used to design a series of garments offered in intermediate design.

330 - FASHION CORSETS
Make a statement by wearing a fashionable corset, using your choice of either Elizabethan or Victorian historical pattern. In this class you will lean techniques to construct your corset, including: boning, closures, and embellishment. You will also learn different ways to wear your corset for day or evening wear.

338 - CLOTHING ALTERATIONS II - JACKETS
After conquering those hems and waistbands in # 238 - Alterations I, join us for the next adventure. Look sleek and tailored after learning these techniques for altering a men's or women's blazer-type jacket. This is not a fitting class. We'll cover: shortening vented and unvented sleeves, evaluating fit problems, taking in or letting out the jacket body. You'll leave this class with skills you can apply to many future projects. Come to class with a blazer-type jacket that needs to have its sleeves shortened.

342 - SEWING TRICKS FOR QUALITY
Eliminate the homemade look from your sewing with these professional finishing techniques. Including: "no-pucker" set-in sleeves, perfectly flat waistbands, "invisible" invisible zippers, interfacing and pressing tips, edge finishes and more.

351 - INTERMEDIATE PATTERN DRAFTING - BODICE
Learn to make a basic jacket with your 5-piece sloper. Learn how to make a convertible collar and a 2-piece tailored sleeve for the jacket. A basic dress or skirt to go with the jacket will also be covered. The jacket pattern will be designed first, proven in muslin, corrected and cut from fashion fabric by the 4th class. At this point the designing of the skirt or dress will begin. This is an estimate of time. The student able to work at home will move at a faster pace. Pre-requisite: # 316 Basic Pattern Drafting Bodice/Sleeve/Skirt.

356 - TRENDY SPRING COAT
We will be ready to welcome Spring with a new lined jacket created from Vogue # 8520 which give us a choice of jacket body and sleeve lengths. The simple style will show off your fabric selection-soft upholstery, drapery, wools, silks and blends. The first class will be cutting out and beginning to sew a muslin fitting sample. Coat fabric not required until second class.
