Kids (ages 8-11) and teens (ages 12-16) will learn the basics of hand sewing, including: various commonly used stitches, basting, the proper way to sew on a button, and a couple of decorative stitches. All of the techniques that the students learn will be incorporated into a needle case they can use for their future sewing projects.

Using McCall's pattern # 5038, kids (ages 8-11) will learn sewing machine basics, how to read and follow a pattern, and how to choose fun, appropriate fabric for their project while they make a stylish elastic-waist skirt. Teens (ages 12-16) will learn basic sewing skills while they make a pair of pajama pants using either McCall's # 3856 or # 3906. These pants will become favorites! Teens learn sewing machine basics, how to read and follow a pattern, and how to choose a fun, appropriate fabric for their project. Kids (ages 8-11) will come to learn to sew or practice their basic sewing skills while constructing a personalized messenger bag (Burda # 8235). Learn sewing machine and hand sewing basics along with using their own creativity to design a one of a kind bag to show off to their friends.

| | 050 - SUMMER TEEN FASHION CHALLENGE
Join other teens (ages 12 - 16) for a five-day Project Runway style fashion challenge. Learn about fashion and sewing as you join in a friendly competition with other participants. Come ready to work hard and have lots of fun. Participants will not learn of the nature of the challenges until the day of the challenge. Cost includes a $100.00 voucher to purchase necessary fabrics and supplies in the store and a daily snack. Students must use classroom sewing machines. Prior sewing experience is mandatory. Registration deadline June 10th, tuition portion of class ($200.00) is non-refundable after July 6th, unless Haberman Fabrics cancels the event.
