SKILL LEVEL GUIDE:
Please note the skill level when selecting a class

- BEGINNER: These classes are suited for the beginner sewer, one who has little or no experience.

- ADVANCED BEGINNER - INTERMEDIATE: These classes are suited for the advanced beginner to intermediate sewers. Students should be able to use a sewing machine and follow printed directions.

INTERMEDIATE - ADVANCED: These classes are suited for the intermediate to advanced sewers. Students should understand basic garment and construction techniques and be very comfortable using a sewing machine on their own.

ADVANCED: These classes are suited for long-time sewers. Students should be very comfortable with using sewing machines, reading and following printed directions, and have advanced knowledge on garment and construction techniques.


211 - BRIDAL VEIL WORKSHOP
In this hands-on workshop you'll create a sample veil, while learning basic layout, cutting and sewing techniques, as well as how to embellish with a beautiful lace or ribbon edge, so you can make your own fabulous bridal veil at home. The retail costs of these veils in bridal specialty shops can run from $200 to $2,000, but you can make one yourself for a fraction of the cost!

217 - BASIC CAMP SHIRT
Advance your sewing skills as you create a classic camp shirt perfect for warm weather using McCalls #2094. You will learn how to choose appropriate fabric, learn how to apply sleeves, a notched collar, and buttonholes along with pressing and finishing techniques. Prior sewing experience is mandatory.

218 - LITTLE BLACK DRESS
Every woman's wardrobe should have a "little black dress" that she can wear for all occasions. Create your own using Vogue #8494 or Butterick #4443, make it long or make it short, add a lot of fancy trim or just a touch of something nice, or just keep it simple and elegant...It doesn't even have to be black. Learn about the different type of ebellishments available to help you make a personal statement with your dress.

230 - ZIPPERS WORKSHOP
The focus of this class will be on basic installation of three different type of zippers in both new or replacement in existing garment. You will learn the correct technique to put in a regular dress zipper, an invisible zipper and a separating zipper.

Advance your basic sewing skills as you create a comfortable knit top, using Vogue # 8536. You will learn to read a pattern, select appropriate fabric, and sewing, pressing and finishing techniques. Various ways to create a unique top will also be discussed.

253 - EMBELLISHED HOLIDAY STOCKING
Create a unique holiday stocking in an evening. Embellishments can be traditional or outrageous - you choose. Stocking will be lined and have a hanging loop.

316 - BASIC PATTERN DRAFTING - SLOPERS
Create your own personal pattern making tool. The sloper is the foundation or master pattern used in pattern making. This class will result in 5 personally fitted master pattern pieces - BODICE: Front & Back; SKIRT: Front & Back; Sleeve This is a required / recommended before taking all pattern making classes.

317 - BASIC PATTERN MAKING SKILLS
This class takes you from the beginning stages of designing patterns. You will be covering various ways of adjusting your slopers to different seam lines, gathers, pleats, etc., all elements of design.
PRE-REQUISITE: #316 - Sloper or equivalent class. All others with permission from the instructor.

318 - FINISHING & DETERMINING CONSTRUCTION
Pattern Making requires an understanding of construction and finishing. Participants will focus on developing advanced pattern making skills. Participants will select individual designs and complete the pattern and construction plan.
PRE- REQUISITE: Require a personal sloper and basic pattern making skills. (see class #316 and # 317)

332 - RENAISSANCE CORSETS
Draft and make your own strapless, boned-tabbed, back lacing corset. The perfect underpinning to give you the proper cone shaped silhouette in your Tudor or Elizabethan (or Renaissance Festival) attire. Students will learn how to properly fit corsets for this time period, as well as how to use grommets, boning and bindings.
