  • 1 panel of "Cat In the Hat" Cuddle® Fleece (A)
  • ½ yd of Contrasting Cuddle® Fleece (C)
  • ¾ yd of 2nd Contrasting Cuddle® Fleece (B)
  • 2 yds of 3rd Contrasting Cuddle® fleece (D)
  • Matching polyester thread

EQUIPMENT

  • Sewing Machine
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pins
  • Rotary cutter (optional)
  • Walking Foot for sewing machine (optional)

CUT FROM FABRICDr Seuss Blanket

  • Cat in the Hat Panel A: One (1) 24" x 58" piece.
    (Make sure to center background print)
  • Side Border - CONTRAST B: Two(2) 13"x58" pieces
  • Top/Bottom Border - CONTRAST C: Two (2) 7"x46" pieces
  • Backing - CONTRAST D: One (1) 46"x70" piece

SEAM ALLOWANCE: ½" seam allowances included


DIRECTIONS:

NOTE: Click on Thumbnail for larger image.

  • With right sides together, pin SIDE BORDER B to long edge of
    Cat in the Hat Panel (A). Sew pieces together. Repeat for the other side.
  • With right sides together, pin long edge of TOP BORDER C to the
    constructed unit (B-A-B). Sew together. Repeat for bottom border.

    NOTE: Be careful not to stretch the fleece, may need to ease.
  • With right sides together, pin BACKING FABRIC D to completed blanket front.
    Sew all edges, leaving a 9" opening in bottom seam for turning.
  • Clip corners and trim all outside edges to ¼". Turn blanket right side
    out through opening.
  • Slipstitch opening closed.
  • Top stitch ¼" from the outside edge around the entire blanket.

Now it's time to cuddle up & make a stuffed toy and pillow from coordinates!
