Advanced Beginner

 These classes are suited for the advanced beginner to intermediate sewers. Students should be able to use a sewing machine and follow printed directions.

125 - Bias A-Line Skirt

Adults and teens learn the basics of sewing including basic sewing machine functions, read and follow a pattern, and select appropriate fabric. Students will make a stylish, easy to wear bias cut A-line skirt using Butterick #5431. Students will be advised on selecting appropriate fabrics and sewing supplies during the first session.

200 - Annie's Workroom

Is there a garment you've been dying to make, but don't see a class for? Is there a pattern you need help fitting? Or maybe there's a project that you've already started, but need a little help. Do you need help with alterations on a ready-made garment? Then this is the class for you. Annie is available to help you through all your sewing issues. Pre-requisite: The completion of advanced beginner garment sewing class OR consent from teacher.

201 - Advanced Beginner Skirt

Adults and teens expand your basic skills while making a stylish pencil skirt with an invisible zipper, a Petersham ribbon waistband and a lining using Vogue #8603. Learn quick and easy skills to apply to any garment. Students will learn appropriate fabric selection in the first session.

211 - Bridal Veil Workshop

In this hands-on workshop you’ll create a sample veil, while learning basic layout, cutting and sewing techniques, as well as how to embellish with a beautiful lace or ribbon edge, so you can make your own fabulous bridal veil at home.  The retail costs of these veils in bridal specialty shops can run from $200 to $2,000, but you can make one yourself for a fraction of the cost!

218 - Stylish Sleeveless Sheath Dress

Dresses are back in style. Learn to make this basic, yet versatile sleeveless sheath dress using McCalls pattern #2401 in addition to the many styles featured on the pattern, students will have the option of choosing from 3 additional and very stylish, neckline treatments - fold-over cowl, crisscross tucks and exposed darts. You will learn how to use a pattern, select the appropriate woven fabric and insert darts, facings and an invisible zipper.

The focus of this class will be on basic installation of three different type of zippers in both new or replacement in existing garments. You will learn the correct technique to put in a regular dress zipper, an invisible zipper and a separating zipper.

625 - Lip Cord & Welting Workshop

How do they do that? Learn how to join twisted lip cord flawlessly, blending ends together to make it look continuous. Learn to master your own welting and the little tips on the application of both decorated edges. Also as an added bonus, learn to install an invisible zipper once you add your cording/welting.
