Dresses are back in style. Learn to make this basic, yet versatile sleeveless sheath dress using McCalls pattern #2401 in addition to the many styles featured on the pattern, students will have the option of choosing from 3 additional and very stylish, neckline treatments - fold-over cowl, crisscross tucks and exposed darts. You will learn how to use a pattern, select the appropriate woven fabric and insert darts, facings and an invisible zipper.

316 - Basic Pattern Drafting - Slopers

Create your own personal pattern making tool. The Sloper is the foundation or master pattern used in pattern making. This class will result in 5 personally fitted master pattern pieces – BODICE: Front & Back; SKIRT; Front & Back; Sleeve   This class is required / recommended before taking all pattern making classes.

317 - Basic Pattern Making Skills

This class take you from the beginning stages of designing patterns. You will be covering various ways of adjusting your slopers to different seam lines, gathers, pleats, etc., all elements of design.

PRE-REQUISITE: #316 – Sloper or equivalent class. All other inquiries with permission from the instructor.

Pattern Making requires an understanding of construction and finishing. Participants will focus on developing advanced pattern making skills. Participants will select individual designs and complete the pattern and construction plan.

Learn how easy it is to sew with leather as you make your own stylish tote. Students will learn the techniques and tools needed to successfully sew on this unique material. Skills learned from this class will give you the confidence to conquer larger, more sophisticated leather projects. We will be working with light-weight leather skins which will be available, along with other sewing supplies for purchase during the first session.

Learn how to make pleated draperies, a classic, ever-popular window treatment. Create a personalized look by changing the style and spacing of the pleats, or choose the more informal tab-top drape. The first class will be a discussion of style, fabric choices, and supplies. In the next three classes you will make a custom window treatment for your home.
