Cut two pieces of fur, being careful to cut the fabric backing only, not the pile/hair
Cut two pieces of lining.
Mark both the fur and lining pieces according to the pattern markings.
Shave the fur pile 1/2” in on all cut edges to remove the bulk of hair in seam allowances.
(Use small scissors to remove the “hair” of the fur in the seam allowance)
Fur pieces:
Stitch center back seam with 1/2” seam allowance
On right side of fabric, pull hair (pile) away from seam allowance.
Finger press seam open.
Lining Pieces
Stitch center back seam with 1/2” seam allowance, leaving a 3 1/2” opening in the seam to pull the collar through.
Press seam open.
Cut ribbon into two 1-yard pieces.
Pin lining to fur with right sides together.
Insert one piece of ribbon between lining and fur over the center front circle markings, line up edge of ribbon with the seam allowance. Repeat on the other side of the collar.
Stitch lining to fur with 1/2” seam allowance.
Pull right side out through the center back lining opening.
Lightly press from lining side, avoiding fur by using a pressing cloth. DO NOTHOTIRON. Test on scrap pieces before working on your actual piece.
