CYRANO is based on the life of the 17th century French swashbuckling
nobleman, Cyrano de Bergerac, tragic bearer of an astonishingly large
nose. Cyrano
had a “nose” for beauty too, so he penned romantic poetry
for his true love, Roxanne. Because you have a “nose” for
design with your passion for the creative arts, you will be thrilled
by the handsome period costumes designed by English artist, John Pascoe
and executed by the MOT costume shop under the superb guidance and direction
of Suzanne Hanna, the talented MOT Costume Director. Costume renderings
shown here are by John Pascoe.
You will also enjoy light refreshments, time to socialize, and a chance to win exciting Michigan Opera Theatre door prizes. The Grand Prize is two main floor tickets to CYRANO, for either the October 17th or October 26th performance, plus a special backstage tour following the performance! How exciting! A second winner will receive an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of the Detroit Opera House, at a date confirmed in advance. A highlight of this tour is sure to be the visit to the Costume Shop. A Michigan Opera Theatre Gift Basket, including Opera House Boutique items, will delight the third door prize winner. And finally, the fourth winner will receive two tickets to the Ballet Folklórico de México in its debut performance at the Detroit Opera House, on Saturday, September 15. The 65 dancers and musicians present a world-class spectacle of colorful ethnic traditions from Pre-Hispanic to modern times. Please don’t miss "A Nose for Design", this very exciting event. Tickets
are just $10 in advance, or $15 on September
11th.
